What does Emphasis on
Soil and Water Entail? The specialty of Soil and Water is extremely
important to agriculture. It is the basis
for both plant and animal growth. The specialty is based upon the planning and
management for soil and water systems.
This
includes the study of wetlands, irrigation management, erosion control,
water supply and storage, drainage control, and water quality.
Soil and Water systems courses involve the application of subject
matter acquired in the prerequisite principals and professional support
courses to real world situations. In
the solution of real world, agricultural-natural resources systems
problems, it is necessary to draw on a broad range of experiences
related to agriculture and natural resources sciences.
Systems courses give the student the
opportunity to debate and consider their major from a wider
perspective, and integrate disparate concepts within the
agricultural and natural resources management fields. Students will gain
hands on experience through the Universities’ facilities including the
Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory.
