Congratulations to Stewart Diemont.  Stewart was awarded a 2004 Fulbright Scholarship.

Stewart Diemont
Stewart was awarded a 2004 Fulbright Scholarship to begin in the late summer of 2004.  He will be living and doing research in Mexico for a year.

The United States Congress created the Fulbright Program in 1946, immediately after World War II.  Senator J. William Fulbright, sponsor of the legislation, saw it as a step toward building international cooperation.

  • The purpose of the program as outlined by Senator Fulbright is threefold:

To promote mutual understanding through a commitment to the free flow of ideas and people across national boundaries.

To expand, through this understanding, the boundaries of human wisdom, empathy and perception.

  • Through cooperation in constructive activities among people of different nations, to create true and lasting world peace.
