Stewart
Diemont
Stewart was awarded a 2004 Fulbright Scholarship to begin in the late
summer of 2004. He will be living and doing research in Mexico
for a year.
The United States
Congress created the Fulbright Program in 1946, immediately after
World War II. Senator J. William Fulbright, sponsor of the
legislation, saw it as a step toward building international
cooperation.

The
purpose of the program as outlined by Senator Fulbright is
threefold:
To promote mutual understanding through a commitment to the free
flow of ideas and people across national boundaries.
To expand, through this understanding, the boundaries of human
wisdom, empathy and perception.

Through cooperation
in constructive activities among people of different nations, to
create true and lasting world peace.
