How do soybean producers begin to extract value from the vast selection of digital tools available in agriculture today? At the ROI of Digital Tools for Soybean Producers Workshop on September 8th, nearly 30 individuals including growers, Extension professionals, industry, and university researchers from six states gathered to discuss this question.

Standing guard for an entire crop season, a red flag flew patiently above a corn canopy in all weathers, marking the location of a record-breaker. The Ohio State University (OSU) banner stood sentinel over a plant named Terra Byte which represented the most agricultural data gathered in farming history for a single corn plant across an entire growing season.

Over the last year, Trey Colley, a graduate student studying precision agriculture at The Ohio State University, worked to gather the most data ever collected for a single corn plant. Now that the growing season has transitioned to harvest, Colley has been amazed at the amount of data that has accumulated from his corn plant.
