FABE Department Scholarships

In the 2021-2022 academic year, FABE awarded over 55 scholarships totaling more than $100,000 to incoming first year and current undergraduate students. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, financial need, leadership, area of study, education abroad interest, and/or other special interests. Don't count yourself out; apply for our departmental scholarships!

How to Apply
All Majors:

To be considered for scholarships from the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, fill out the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Scholarship Application*. Your CFAES Scholarship Application will automatically be forwarded to our department for consideration for departmental scholarships. 

ASM, CSM, and FABE students must fill out the CFAES Scholarship Application to be considered for scholarships from the department.

Ag Engineering Support Fund. Provides scholarships within FABE at the discretion of the department chair.
Alan Clay Bondurant Memorial Fund. Supports scholarships, travel or awards relating to international agricultural engineering. 
Alpha Gamma Sigma Foundation Cecil Robinson Scholarship. Annual gift supports an undergraduate student in the department with preference given to an Alpha Gamma Sigma member with above average academic record with demonstrated leadership.
Bob and Barbara Alpers Scholarship. Income provides scholarships for students majoring in FABE.
R. D. Barden Scholarship Award in Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Provides scholarships to students majoring in agricultural engineering or agricultural systems management. 
Bilik-Walden Scholarship. Provides scholarships for undergraduate students majoring in construction systems management.
Joseph D. Blickle Educational Development Fund. Provides scholarship support for all undergraduate programs in FABE. 
Richard T. and Iola Keller Brown Scholarship Fund. Provides scholarships to juniors or seniors who have demonstrated academic promise, leadership among peers and service to the university.
The Robert J. and Yvonne E. Gustafson Scholarship Fund. Supports one or more scholarships for undergraduate engineering students in FABE. Samuel G. Huber Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Award. Provides scholarships to undergraduate agricultural engineers who are interested in teaching to encourage their entry into future graduate work. 
Frederick Ives Chair's Scholarship Fund. Provides scholarships for undergraduate students majoring in programs in the Department of FABE who have provided service to the Department and/or student and professional organizations.
Frank Irons Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering Scholarship. Provides scholarships to students majoring in agricultural engineering.
Dolores A. Joehlin Memorial Scholarship. Supports undergraduate study abroad scholarships for students pursuing a degree in the Department of FABE, with preference to students enrolled in an engineering major, who graduated from an Ohio high school, have demonstrated financial need, and will be pursuing a study abroad experience in countries with medium or low Human Development Index values per the United Nations Development Programs criteria. 
Homer W. Joehlin Memorial Scholarship. Supports scholarships for undergraduate students from an Ohio high school with demonstrated financial need who have completed at least two semesters towards a degree in food, agricultural and biological engineering. 
David L. Kahler Power Equipment Scholarship. Provides scholarship to be awarded to undergraduates with priority for student interested in a career in power equipment.
The Carl Kipp Jr. Paygro/Garick Endowed Scholarship Fund. Provides scholarship for junior or senior students who are enrolled the Department of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering, with priority based on concentration of study in bioevironmental, soil and water, ecological or biological Engineering. Preference shall be given to students willing to intern at Paygro or Garick. Students shall have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and take a course that includes business or economics related fundamentals.
Lamp Fund in Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Provides scholarships for qualified and deserving Ohio high school students desiring to study agricultural engineering, with priority to students from rural areas who are interested in machinery systems.
Glenn W. McCuen Scholarship. Income provides scholarships or other awards in food, agricultural or biological engineering.
George and Betty Merva Scholarship Endowment. Provides a scholarship in the department for an undergraduate student, preferably from Guernsey County or, secondly, from Southeastern Ohio, based on scholastic merit and leadership.
R. C. Miller Student Award Fund. Provides a scholarship for a senior agricultural engineering student.
Ohio Agribusiness Association Ag Systems Management Scholarship. Supports sophomore, junior, or senior students in majoring in agricultural systems management. 
Cecil and Eloise Robinson Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering Endowment Fund. Provides scholarships for students enrolled in the department. 
Paul H. Rofkar Scholarship Endowment. Provides merit scholarships for students enrolled in the Department of FABE with at least a 3.5 GPA and demonstrated leadership with goals related to CFAES. 
Ross/Abbott Laboratories Scholarship. Provides scholarships for undergraduate students in FABE with preference to students majoring in food and biological engineering.
Alice Lucile Russel Scholarship Fund. Provides undergraduate student scholarships in agricultural engineering based on merit and financial need, with preference to students from Belmont or Champaign counties.
Glenn O. and Lois S. Schwab Scholarship Fund. Provides a scholarship to a junior or senior student majoring in food, agricultural and biological engineering who has a minimum GPA of 3.3 and receives the highest grade in the design course in soil and water conservation engineering.
Ted and Karen Short Intern Scholarship in Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering. Provides incentives and financial support to undergraduate engineering students seeking summer internships. Preference is to students doing their initial summer internship with Wooster OARDC department faculty. Second preference is to students doing summer internships with machinery systems design engineers in food, agricultural, and biosystems industries.  
FABE Study Abroad Scholarship. Scholarship support for students in FABE interested in study abroad.
Ohio-Michigan Equipment Dealers FABE Scholarship. Provides scholarship support to several undergraduate students in the department with an interest in farm power machinery and equipment.


FABE Majors:

Students majoring in Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering can also be considered for scholarships from the College of Engineering (COE)*. (See below for links to scholarships applications.) Students must fill out the CFAES Scholarship Application to be considered for scholarships from the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Students who only fill out the College of Engineering application will not be considered for scholarships from the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering.

FABE also recommends external scholarships for students looking for additional funding from professional organizations, local groups, and more.
