FABE Graduate Student Organization (GSO)

Mission Statement

To provide an organized outlet for communication between graduate students and departmental faculty and staff. To bring together students from diverse backgrounds and research areas in an informal atmosphere. To provide camaraderie among the graduate students community housed in (or advised by a faculty member in) the Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering department. To organize group outings for our members that improve their graduate school experience.

OFFICERS

President: Autumn Sylvestri

I am Autumn Sylvestri, a current Master’s student serving as the GSO President. My research focus is ecological engineering and ecosystem restoration. I work with Dr. Jay Martin on analyzing the biodiversity and functionality of restored Ohio wetlands. You can find me outside hiking and searching for interesting plants and insects.

 

 

Vice President: Sandeep Dhakal

Sandeep Dhakal

 

My name is Sandeep Dhakal, and I am a second-year Ph.D. student in FABE. I currently serve as Vice President of the GSO. My research focuses on developing non-destructive methods to predict natural rubber yield in alternative crops such as rubber dandelion and guayule. Outside of academics, I enjoy hiking, camping, and playing cricket.

My name is Isabelle, and I am currently a Master’s student under Dr. Ryan Winston. I am studying stormwater best management practices focusing on hydrology and water quality. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, playing cello, finding good coffee shops, and being outside.

Hetian HuI am Rohit Anand, a Ph.D. student working under Dr. Scott Shearer. My research focuses on precision and digital agriculture, with an emphasis on integrating machine learning and biophysical modeling to enhance efficiency and sustainability in farming practices. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, playing badminton, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
