Ohio State University Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) Assistant Professor Dr. Darren Drewry received the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award this past week.
Ohio State Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering Assistant Professor Dr. Darren Drewry’s team was awarded membership into NASA’s ECOsystem Spaceborne Thermal Radiometer Experiment on Space Station (ECOSTRESS) Science and Applications Team for their project titled, “Remotely Sensing Crop Stress in the U.S. Corn Belt.”

Darren Drewry, assistant professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, represents Ohio State on the team of multi-institutional researchers recently awarded a grant to pursue their vision for ultra-precision agriculture. The research group calls their team COALESCE, COntext Aware LEarning for Sustainable CybEr-agricultural systems. They were recently selected for a five-year $7 million Cyber-Physical Systems Frontier award funded by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
Dr. Darren Drewry, Assistant Professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering has been named the recipient of the 2020 Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award from Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU).
Dr. Darren Drewry is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) and Horticulture and Crop Science. His academic background includes degrees in physics (B.S., Virginia Tech), computer science (M.C.S., University of Virginia) and engineering (Ph.D., Duke University). This diverse academic background has led him to seek multi-disciplinary solutions to problems at the intersection of ecohydrology, food security and agro-ecosystem monitoring and management.
