Every spring, The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) translates cutting-edge research for stakeholders across the state in its Research Forum. By engaging with stakeholders, The Ohio State University provides research, technology, and knowledge to support safe, sustainable, and viable agricultural practices across Ohio and the world. Last week, the research done by students and research scientists was put on display at the CFAES Research Forum.
The Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) had a very impressive day at this year's Forum, as nine different faculty, staff, and students were honored by the college in some way.
Before the poster competition portion of the Forum, Dr. Lingying Zhao, a 2023-2024 CFAES Distinguished Professor, was honored as a Faculty Fellow by the group. In addition, her proposal, which looks at abate poultry disease and heat stress by climate-smart housing and environment control intervention for sustainable cage-free egg production, was also recognized. FABE professor Ryan Winston's proposal, which aims to improve traps/basins on ODOT construction projects, was honored as an over $1,000,000 award along with Zhao's.
To being the awards portion of the event, Ph. D. candidate Joey Smith received two graduate school awards. He first received the Ohio State Presidential Fellowship, which is the most prestigious award given by the Graduate School to recognize the outstanding scholarly accomplishments and potential of graduate students entering the final phase of their dissertation research or terminal degree project. Smith also was awarded a Graduate Associate Teaching Award.
