Sours receives 2024 Community Engaged Scholar Award

Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) faculty Patrick Sours received the 2024 Community Engaged Scholar award, announced by the Office of Outreach and Engagement at Ohio State University. 

The Community Engaged Scholar Award recognizes faculty members who have demonstrated co-created engaged scholarship that has positively impacted communities. Community Engaged Scholars have made significant contribution to Ohio State's culture of engagement, further establishing, and strengthening the institution's commitment to communities.

Sours is an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in Engineering for Sustainable Development and Faculty Lead of the Humanitarian Engineering Program in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering. 

His current research efforts are focused on Sustainable Development Engineering with particular emphasis on low energy input passive gravity water treatment systems. He has extensive field work in international development, in particular, working with rural communities on construction and optimization of water storage. Sours has worked on a variety of projects in Tanzania, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, and India.
