The Ohio State University Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering faculty Patrick Sours is the recipient of a Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning Research and Implementation grant for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning provides services and programs that cultivate teaching excellence among all who teach and support instruction at The Ohio State University, integrate and enhance teaching and learning initiatives that support academic programs, elevating them to the institutional level, and improve learning experiences for our students
support the university as a national leader in teaching, learning, and research.
The grant will continue Sours' efforts with the Humanitarian Engineering and Engineering for Sustainable Development program, supporting the development of pedagogical practices and learning modules aimed at preparing students to address complex global sustainability challenges.
“I am excited to continue collaboration with Dr. Cindy Jiang, Office of International Affairs, and the Department of Engineering Education," said Sours. "With this support from the Drake Institute, our implementation project will build on foundational research conducted on effective pedological practices related to the development of intercultural competency and apply the findings to create curated learning content to support sustainability pedagogy. This will particularly support our growing curriculum efforts related to Engineering for Sustainable Development.”
