Jenna Lee grew up on a farm in Marysville, Ohio. As the daughter of two 3rd generation Buckeyes, she always had an interest in attending The Ohio State University. She said campus always felt like home to her as an Ohioan. Listening to the campus chimes when she crosses the oval makes her feel at home.

And now, using precision agriculture technology, Ohio State researchers are able to show how technology can be used to create an image of a logo commemorating the university’s 150th anniversary in a soybean field.

In U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 Best Colleges rankings, more departments within The Ohio State University College of Engineering placed among the nation’s top programs than ever before. Overall, Ohio State’s undergraduate engineering program again ranks first in Ohio, and 16th among public universities nationwide. Among both public and private institutions, Ohio State’s College of Engineering ranks 29th, up one spot from last year.

His academic background includes degrees in physics (B.S., Virginia Tech), computer science (M.C.S., University of Virginia) and engineering (Ph.D., Duke University).

Carin A. Helfer is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at The Ohio State University. She received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. After college, she was a research tire compounder at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio. She left Goodyear to pursue a Ph.D.

Ajay Shah, Associate Professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE), was recently honored with the Young Engineer of the Year award at the Northeast Agricultural and Biological Engineering Conference (NABEC), a community of the American Society of Agricultural & Biological Engineers (ASABE). Each year, the award honors one member of NABEC, who has made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the agricultural and biological engineering profession.

Dr. Scott A. Shearer has been reappointed as Chair of the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) at The Ohio State University. Shearer joined the department as Chair in 2011. This will be his third four-year term in the role.
Shearer received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in agricultural engineering from The Ohio State University. Prior to 2011 he was Chair of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Kentucky.

Ryan Winston, Assistant Professor in Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) and Civil, Environmental, and Geodetic Engineering, recently received a 2019 Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring Award. Over 60 graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty were nominated this year. Winston joins 17 other award recipients from across the university who were all recognized by the Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry.

Dr. Judit E. Puskas joined the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) at The Ohio State University as a tenured Full Professor in January 2019. Puskas received a PhD in plastics and rubber technology in 1985, and an M. E. Sc in organic and biochemical engineering in 1977, from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary.

For those born and raised in Ohio, most aspire to get out and live by the beach. Wyatt (Kin) Sanders-Evans, however, did the opposite. As a native of Columbia, South Carolina, he was in for quite the treat coming to Ohio.
