Dr. Ajay Shah, Assistant Professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering was recognized at the recent 2018 College of Engineering Distinguished Faculty Awards with a Lumley Research Award. The Lumley Engineering Research Awards are presented to outstanding researchers from the College of Engineering who have demonstrated exceptional activity and success in their research pursuits.

Dr. Scott Shearer, Professor and Chair of the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, was named one of six recipients of a 2018Battelle Engineering, Technology and Human Affairs (BETHA) grant.
The BETHA Endowment annual grant competition helps fund projects at the complex intersection between science, technology, society, and cultural issues.

Over the course of the past academic year, 17 future engineers and scientists have discussed how to combat a troubling trend in STEM fields: low advancement and retention of women in the workplace. It’s a problem plaguing male-dominated fields that the Aspiration for Women’s Advancement and Retention in Engineering and Science (AWARES) program hopes to change.

W. Mac Ware, instructor and internship coordinator for the Construction Systems Management Program in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at The Ohio State University has been selected as the 64th recipient of the BX Cornerstone Award.
Ware was selected based on his leadership contributions to the community, the industry and the Exchange. Considered to be the highest honor presented in the central Ohio construction industry, the Cornerstone Award has been given annually since 1954.

Dr. Dewey Mann, Lecturer in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE), was named the 2018 recipient of the Outstanding Academic Mentor Award at the annual CFAES Celebration of Students. Mann was nominated by Cody McClain, a junior Agriscience Education major. McClain has gotten to know Mann through the Ag Safety Program, by taking several of his courses, and as a member of the Agricultural Systems Management (ASM) Club.

Ecological engineering majors Monica Backs, Lucas Froelich, Jake Radeff, Patrick Sanders, and biological engineering major Gio Papio dedicate capstone design project to restore the Carmack Woods, a wetland on The Ohio State University's Columbus Campus. Each autumn, seniors in the Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering (FABE) program begin a year-long capstone design experience. Students form teams to address real-world problems sponsored university, local, and national clients and organizations.
