  1. National Research Institute of Science and Technology for Environment and Agriculture Invitation

    Beenish Saba, a graduate student in biological engineering,  has been invited to participate in a research project of electrosynthesis processes in bio-cathodes, in hydro-system and bio process units  of the National Research Institute of Science and Technology for Environment and Agriculture Paris, France.

    The is a multi-disciplinary team of OSU engineers, construction management and business students.  The team was challenged with building a model home that the Honduran builders can replicate mixing some USA and local construction methods.

    On February 26th, 2016, 20 ASM Club members flew to Houston, TX in preparation for the 2016 GEAPS Exchange conference. While in the Houston area, attendees were able to tour a Cargill grain handling port facility, an ADM port facility in Galveston, TX, in addition to the World Championship of BBQing at the NRG stadium. Student then commuted three hours over to the GEAPS Exchange in Austin, TX.

  5. Beenish Saba, FABE Graduate Student Awarded an Office of Energy and Environment Research Grant

    Graduate student, Beenish Saba, has been awarded an Office of Energy and Environment (OEE) Research Grant in the amount of $10,000 for her proposal “Electricity Generation with Simultaneous Biotreatment of Textile Wastewater”.  Dr. Ann Christy is Beenish’s faculty advisor.  Beenish received a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Science and Technology in Pakistan.  Ms. Saba is also a Fulbright Scholar. 

  6. Newest Fellows of National Academy of Inventors

    Caroline Whitacre, Vice President for Research at Ohio State, and Katrina Cornish, Endowed Chair and Ohio Research Scholar, Bioemergent Materials, in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science and the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, were awarded the rank of Fellow by the National Academy of Inventors this week.

    A total of 62 learning modules on topics within controlled environment plant production have been created.  These modules can be divided into ten general categories based on topic.  Categories and the number of modules within each category are listed in the column to the right.   9. Johnathon Sheets, Ph.D. Candidate in Bioenergy, awarded prestigious Presidential Fellowship

    John Sheets, has been awarded a Presidential Fellowship from the Graduate School.  This fellowship recognizes outstanding scholarship and research ability and provides recipients the opportunity to devote full time to their dissertation research.  John’s research in anaerobic digestion used as a renewable energy platform, is an increasingly important technology that could one day supply energy to the world.  Dr. Yebo Li is John’s faculty advisor.
