  1. FABE Associate Professor Sami Khanal

    Khanal to lead agricultural technology research and training program in Nepal

    The Ohio State University Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) associate professor Sami Khanal will lead a two-year United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) initiative to collaborate with the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) to explore and promote climate-smart nitrogen fertilizer management practices for sustainable rice and wheat production in Nepal.

  2. Cross and Drewry investigate machine learning for soil heat flux in newly published article

    The Ohio State University Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering faculty Darren Drewry and Ph.D. student James Cross recently published an article in Ecological Informatics, a publication of high-quality, peer-reviewed articles on all aspects of computational ecology, data science, biogeography, and ecosystem analysis.

  3. Spring 2024 Dean's List honorees announced

    Earlier this month, the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) and the College of Engineering announced it's Dean's List honorees for the Spring 2024 semester. The Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) is proud to announce that across our three majors, 146 students achieved the honor of Dean's List this past semester. 

    Congratulations to all the students who made the list, and best of luck for the fall!

  4. Miralha to lead $4.9 million grant project to train water industry workforce in Ohio

    The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) has received a $4.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce and NOAA to fund a project that will train new workers to fulfill the specialized workforce needs of the water industry in the Ohio Great Lakes region.

    Graduate program ranks eighth for second-straight year

    In the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools compilation, the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at The Ohio State University ranked 8th among its U.S. university peers. The College of Engineering’s graduate program ranked 27th overall, once again first in Ohio and moving up to 13th among public universities.

    The American Ecological Engineering Society (AEES) awarded The Ohio State University Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) professor Jay Martin with the 2024 Odum Award at its annual conference held in Virginia last month.
     

  7. Manure Science Review

    Ohio State to host Manure Science Review in August

    The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) will host the 24th annual Manure Science Review on August 6, 2024 at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center in London, Ohio. 

    Aimed at farmers, crop consultants, soil conservation workers and others, the Manure Science Review will feature speakers and field demonstrations from Ohio State and other qualified companies and institutions.

    The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) announced its 2024 major award winners last week as a part of its monthly newsletter. Two members from The Ohio State University's Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering were among the 27 recipients selected. 

    FABE faculty Patrick Sours received the Robert E. Stewart Engineering-Humanities honor while recent Ph.D. candidate Jaden Tatum earned the Pharos of Alexandria Global Learning award.

    Ally Lewis blends science and art through NASA Psyche Inspired internship program

    The NASA Psyche mission is a journey to a unique metal-rich asteroid orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter. What makes the asteroid Psyche unique is that it appears to be the exposed nickel-iron core of an early planet, one of the building blocks of our solar system.

    Global Capstone selected as Program of Excellence in Engaged Scholarship

    To support and promote high-impact engaged scholarship, the Office of Outreach and Engagement at The Ohio State University has instituted a process to certify programs of excellence in engaged scholarship. The certification process seeks to identify and certify projects annually that demonstrate excellence in community-engaged scholarship and meet the criteria of high-impact engaged scholarship.
