Ohio State to host Manure Science Review in August

The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) will host the 24th annual Manure Science Review on August 6, 2024 at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center in London, Ohio. 

Aimed at farmers, crop consultants, soil conservation workers and others, the Manure Science Review will feature speakers and field demonstrations from Ohio State and other qualified companies and institutions.

Sours, Tatum collect 2024 ASABE awards

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) announced its 2024 major award winners last week as a part of its monthly newsletter. Two members from The Ohio State University's Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering were among the 27 recipients selected. 

FABE faculty Patrick Sours received the Robert E. Stewart Engineering-Humanities honor while recent Ph.D. candidate Jaden Tatum earned the Pharos of Alexandria Global Learning award.

Global Capstone selected as Program of Excellence in Engaged Scholarship

To support and promote high-impact engaged scholarship, the Office of Outreach and Engagement at The Ohio State University has instituted a process to certify programs of excellence in engaged scholarship. The certification process seeks to identify and certify projects annually that demonstrate excellence in community-engaged scholarship and meet the criteria of high-impact engaged scholarship.

Puskas named a Distinguished University Professor

Judit E. Puskas, a College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Distinguished Professor, has been named a Distinguished University Professor. This is the highest faculty honor at The Ohio State University.

Puskas, a member of the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) on the CFAES Wooster Campus, joined Ohio State in 2019, continuing a prolific industry and academic career in rubber technology. A world-renowned polymer expert, Puskas’ impact on her field and her students is broadly recognized.

Faculty, staff, and students honored at the 2024 CFAES Research Forum

By engaging with stakeholders, The Ohio State University provides research, technology, and knowledge to support safe, sustainable, and viable agricultural practices across Ohio and the world. Capstone students contribute to space research

Students majoring in Agricultural Systems Management and Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering participate in a senior capstone project during their final undergraduate year as part of the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) curriculum at The Ohio State University. Through the two semester-long capstone project, students can apply their knowledge to real-world situations and partner with international companies to further expand their technical skills. 

Graduate student funded to harness remote sensing and AI technology for precision agriculture

Last week, The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Research & Graduate Education Internal Grants Program announced which projects would receive funding for the upcoming year. 

Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) Ph. D. candidate Sushma Katari's project, titled “Combining satellite and unmanned aerial system data for identifying the crop growth stages using image processing and machine learning techniques” was one of the selected projects.
