With over 2 billion people lacking safe water on tap (washdata.org), providing access to clean water is one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and was also identified as one of the fourteen Grand Challenges in Engineering for the 21st Century by the National Academy for Engineering.
In our conversation with Zachary Johnson, one of the recipients of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Distinguished Senior Award from The Ohio State University's Department of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering, he shared insights into his discovery of FABE, his time in the department, and his future endeavors post-graduation. Zachary is a Construction Systems Management Major from New Albany, Ohio.
We sat down with Kyle Northup, one of the four College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Distinguished Senior Award recipients from the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) here at The Ohio State University. Kyle is an agricultural systems management major from Crown City, Ohio, and he told us about how he found FABE, his experience in the department, and his plans for after graduation!
Srishti Gaur, a postdoctoral scholar in The Ohio State University's Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, recently published an article in Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, a peer-reviewed journal covering research on the relationships between meteorology and the fields of plant, animal, and soil sciences, ecology, and biogeochemistry.
Gaur's article, titled "Explainable machine learning for predicting stomatal conductance across multiple plant functional types" will appear in the May 2024 edition of the journal.
Earlier this semester, The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) announced its 23 recipients of the Distinguished Senior Award. The Distinguished Senior Award honors top graduating seniors on the Ohio State Columbus campus who exemplify the CFAES mission in areas such as academics and scholarship, research and innovation, service and involvement, and influence and leadership.
Four researchers in The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) have been awarded funding from the statewide Harmful Algal Bloom Research Initiative (HABRI), which seeks solutions for harmful algal blooms in Ohio. Three of those researchers, Vinayak Shedekar, Asmita Murumkar, and Ryan Winston, are in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE).

Earlier this month, the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) and the College of Engineering announced it's Dean's List honorees for the Autumn 2023 semester. The Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) is proud to announce that across our three majors, 164 students achieved the honor of Dean's List this past semester.
