Beenish Saba

I describe myself as an environmental biologist, and the integration of environmental and bioprocess engineering is at the core of my research. My primary focuse is on microbial electrosynthesis, bioprocessing of organic materials, and bioremediation. The techniques involved in my research encompass a wide range of areas, including bioelectrochemical and pollution control technologies, and biorefining of domestically produced natural rubber latex. My research journey is centered around three key areas:

1. Integration of microbiological and biochemical theories and concepts into an analytical framework for the treatment and valorization of biological waste streams.
2. Environmental impact reduction by developing innovative strategies to contribute to the well-being of communities and the planet as a whole.
3. Exploration and enhancement of refining processes for emerging biobased materials.

Prior to taking a Research Scientist position at FABE Dr. Saba was Leading Engineers as Agents of Change and Equity (LEGACY) postdoctoral scholar and a Fulbright scholar at FABE.
