Hydroponics (Dr. Cornish)

We have built a novel hydroponics table that allows tap roots to grow in their normal vertical orientation.  The system supports an 8 by 8 fully randomized design. Initial experiments proved that adventitious roots can make rubber, leading to a possible rubber production system in which plant roots may be repeatedly harvested from the same plants.  The system will also be used to optimize rubber biosynthesis through the controlled application of  temperature gradients, nutrients and osmotica.  Postive results will then be tested in pots and then field conditions.
