Meet Our Students

  1. Wyatt was invited to tour Air Force 2 during his internship

Meet W. Kin Sanders-Evans: From Building Rollercoasters to Constructing Airports

    Apr 21, 2019

For those born and raised in Ohio, most aspire to get out and live by the beach. Wyatt (Kin) Sanders-Evans, however, did the opposite. As a native of Columbia, South Carolina, he was in for quite the treat coming to Ohio.

“I traded my flipflops for snow boots,” says Wyatt.

  2. Lyne’a Diller is a 3rd year Agricultural Systems Management Major

Meet Lyne’a Diller: Time and Agricultural Systems Management

    Mar 31, 2019

It is easy to get intimidated by the course load when you first step into an Ohio State class. After a while though, students eventually get accustomed to the operation. Lyne’a Diller, a third year Agriculture Systems Management (ASM) major, can say she has gotten the handle on time management.

  3. Meet Owen Si: Former ASM student, current graduate student

Meet Owen Si: International Plant Doctor

    Mar 25, 2019

For most, life can take them slightly off course from their intended paths. But for some, like Agricultural Systems Management (ASM) student Owen Si, that may mean moving to the other side of the world for college.

Owen was born and raised in Qingdao, a big city in the Chinese province of Shandong. Back in high school, he never imagined that he would be in America starting his graduate in agriculture. In fact, English was his least favorite subject.

  4. Holly graduated in May 2018 with her B.S. degree in FABE, specializing in food engineering

Meet Holly Huellemeier: Food Connoisseur & Engineer

    Feb 21, 2019

Everyone likes their food a different way. Some people enjoy the comfort of simple, homemade foods that they know the exact taste of while others seek the thrill of creating and trying new and exotic foods. Holly Huellemeier, current FABE graduate student, falls into the second category.

From Georgetown, Kentucky, Holly has always loved cooking. When she’s in the kitchen, she’s constantly exploring her options and finding out new recipes and ingredients from outside the box.

  5. Meet Grant McHugh, current CSM student

Meet Grant McHugh: Volunteering to Build a Better World

    Feb 10, 2019

Students who attend The Ohio State University are often exposed to eye-opening, mind-opening, and heart-opening experiences. Grant McHugh, a third-year Construction Systems Management (CSM) major, is a prime example.

  6. When not working on his research in the lab, Dylan is a big fan of the outdoors.

Meet Dylan Beam: Biological Engineering Major and Undergraduate Researcher

    Jan 28, 2019

Growing up in Newberg, Oregon, Dylan wouldn’t be surprised if the saying, “there are more trees than people in the state” rang true.

Fortunately for Dylan, he has always had an innate love for the outdoors. To this day, every time he visits home, he goes on some type of adventure in the open air, whether it be camping, hiking, or just going out to the coast.

  7. Celene's interest in brewing led her to specialize in Food Engineering

Meet Celene Gielink: Not Your Traditional Engineer

    Nov 9, 2018

After moving from state to state, Celene ended up completing her bachelor's degree in Food Engineering from Ohio State and has stayed on in pursuit of her graduate degree. With a passion for fermented/alcoholic brewing, she has found the program to be the perfect place for her unorthodox ideas and life experiences.

  8. Meet Justin Haerr: Future Ohio Farmer

Meet Justin Haerr: Future Ohio Farmer

    Oct 22, 2018

With the ball gripped tightly in his hand, he was centered atop the pitcher’s mound. The crowd was booming, and the lighting of the field seemed like it was only shining on him. This was the last inning. Justin finally shifted his gaze to meet his opponent, the batter, as a bead of sweat made its way down his forehead. He took a deep, heavy breath, winded up, and released.

  9. Meet Manny Barnes

Meet Manny Barnes: a Leader in CSM and Beyond

    Sep 28, 2018

While he is not performing his role in the Army National Guard as a team leader, he is focusing his time on his education and other civilian duties.

Manny grew up in Canal Winchester, where he was a part of his high school’s football and wrestling teams. Upon graduating, however, he decided to step away from sports to further his academics. Manny simultaneously enlisted in the military and began his college career at University of Toledo in 2014.
